About Soulfire Ceramics Studio
We are Townsend and Mary, a husband and wife ceramic duo living and working in the Pacific Northwest. We found a deeper connection through pottery — to each other, to the earth, and to the people who bring meaning into our lives.
Working with clay became our way to slow down, breathe, and rediscover peace in a world that often feels too fast. Each piece begins in stillness — a form of meditation through creation — where shaping earth with our hands becomes a return to self.
Our studio name, Soulfire, reflects the transformation that happens when fire meets intention. The flame in the kiln mirrors the spark within, turning raw clay into something whole, alive, and beautiful.
Our maker’s mark is inspired by three ancient symbols: Kenaz, the fire of transformation; Ansuz, the breath of spirit and inspiration; and Mannaz, humanity and partnership. Together, they represent the heart of our work — a union of soul, craft, and connection.
Through each vessel we create, we hope to share the same sense of calm and renewal pottery has given us — a reminder that beauty and meaning can be found in still moments, shaped by hand, heart, and flame.
